A combination of several solar cells is called a solar module. The electricity generated by each solar cell is collected in the module. As the number of solar cells increases, the capacity of the module increases. Nowadays, more than 300kW capacity is used per module.
Solar modules can be classified into Monocrystalline modules andPolycrystalline modules depending on the type of solar cell.
1. Monocrystalline
When a solar cell constituting a solar module is a single crystal silicon wafer, it is called a single crystal solar module. Monocrystalline modules have high conversion efficiency and generate more power than polycrystals per unit area. However, the disadvantage is that the production process is difficult and the price is high.
2. Polycrystalline
Polycrystalline module is a solar module with polycrystalline solar cell. Currently, the most popular solar module is used because it is less efficient than single crystals but is cheaper. The efficiency of polycrystalline modules is also increasing gradually through technology development. Polycrystalline modules are the best solution for good price performance.
